Wayne Dale Campbell

Wayne Dale Campbell (U.S. Navy Veteran), 79, entered into his heavenly home on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born on June 29, 1941 in Greenwood, Mississippi to the late Hernando DeSoto Campbell and Verdie Irene Campbell.  Wayne was married to the love of his life Ruby L. Campbell for 40 magnificent years.

Wayne was retired from the U.S. Navy after serving 20 years.  While serving in the Navy he served 3 tours in Vietnam.  He received the Presidential Unit Citation; Good Conduct Medal (3 Bronze stars); Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea); National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal (4 Bronze Stars); and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.  He enjoyed fishing, traveling, fellow-shipping with his senior class at church, listening to gospel music and mostly loved spending time with his wonderful wife and family.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Ruby Campbell of Burlington; his sons - Randy (Nubia) Campbell, Alex (Jennifer) Campbell, Phil (Nancy) Coty and Stephen (Christi) Coty; 9 grandchildren - Christian (Brooklyn) Coty, Randy Campbell, Jr., Presley Campbell, Matthew Campbell, Kai Campbell, Mackenzie Westbrook, Christopher (Casey) Collins, Brittany Collins, Makayla Collins; 5 great grandchildren and another 1 coming in May; niece - Julia Balian; 2 nephews - Barry (Gwen) Geia, Jason Harper; 3 sister-in-laws - Roberta Balian, Lorinda Harper and Clara Vorhis and brother-in-law Al Geia. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Hernando and Verdie Campbell, his brother Benjamin (Ben) Campbell, his sister Jean Geia and niece Stacy Harper.

The service will be held Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 3 pm in Lowe Funeral Home Chapel in Burlington The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the residence.
