Wesley David Carden, 57, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several months of failing health. He was born on September 26, 1968 in Alamance County.
Wesley was previously a self-employed Internet Cable Installer, a career in which he found both independence and purpose. Beyond his work, he was an avid NASCAR fan who found joy in the thrill of the race and the friendships he made. He also found comfort and happiness in fishing, especially if it involved surf fishing at the beach, embracing the peacefulness of the water and the quiet patience it required. Music was another pleasure that he enjoyed; it provided a soundtrack to many of his cherished moments.
Known for his infectious laugh and quick wit, Wesley loved to crack jokes, truly seeing himself as a comedian—a trait that brought light and laughter to family and friends alike. But beneath the laughter was a man of great heart, whose proudest achievements were his children, for whom he held endless love, pride and affection. He was always willing to help and give to others, indication to the big-hearted man he was.
Wesley is survived by his children, Wesley David Carden Lawson and his husband Mark, and Tiffany Amber Carden and her significant other Katherine “Katie” Vela. He leaves behind his loving mother, Carol Tickell Pettigrew; his father, Wesley Alton Carden; a sister, Christine “Chris” Carden; and his twin sister, Deborah Carden Seward and her husband David; his nephew, Kendall Seward; and his feline companion, Fatty Patty, shared many quiet moments of comfort with him over the years. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Steve Pettigrew.
Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit lives on in the laughter, humor, and memories he leaves behind.
