Gibsonville, NC William Edward Ed Belvin, age 88, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at Moses Cone Hospital. William was a native of Wake County and the husband of the late Nancy Sutton Belvin. Ed retired from Dixie Bell textiles in Gibsonville and was a member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church. He was a retired volunteer fireman for Gibsonville Fire Department for over 30 years and he was the oldest living Gibsonville Volunteer Fireman. He was also nominated as an Honorary Fireman for life upon his retirement. Ed coached Little League Baseball and Softball in past years in Gibsonville. Ed was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his son, Eddie Bettye Belvin; daughter, Melba Allison; grandchildren, Michael Belvin, Michelle Scott Aldridge, Natasha Matt Soddy and Jamie Allison Hall; great grandchildren, Dustin Soddy, Dylan Soddy, Elizabeth Belvin, Alayna Belvin,Shae Allison and Zachary Andrews; sister, Lovie King. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, Zebulon Vance and Priscilla Bagwell Belvin; sisters, Madie Wilkins, Flora Giffis and Foy Baker; brothers, Lonnie, Curlie, Willie and Elijah Belvin. . A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Don Lyerly at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home, 413 Spring Wood Avenue, Gibsonville, NC 27249.
