William Drewery

William Henry Drewery, 89, of 1594 Meeting Ground Road, Burlington, passed away Friday, July 24, 2009 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. A native of Campbell County, VA, he was born to the late William and Mary Queen Goad Drewery, and was the husband of the late Winston Webster Drewery. William proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of City Lake Baptist Church, and belonged to the Men's Sunday School Class. Mr. Drewery worked in the water department at Copland Fabrics, and was also an honorary fireman of Faucette Township. Survivors include his daughters, Winston Louise Collins and husband Rick of Graham, Norma Lee Rimmer and husband George of Graham, Patsy Lynn Brown and husband Darrell of Southport, and Vanessa Parker of the home; sons, William H. Drewery, Jr. of Graham, and Lonnie Earl Drewery and wife Faye of Siler City; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter Joyce Ann McPherson; sons-in-law, Donald Parker, and Jerry McPherson; daughter-in-law, Mary Drewery; sisters, Annie Matthews and Thelma Doughty; and two brothers, Alphonso Drewery, and Melvin Drewery. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2009 at City Lake Baptist Church by Rev. Elmer Joyner and Rev. Benny Smith. Interment will follow at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. on Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, and at other times at the home.
