Wilma Eloise “Weezy” Stanford Andrews, 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at AuthoraCare of Burlington surrounded by her family. The youngest of four children, she was born March 3, 1929 to the late R.D. Stanford and Nellie Parker Stanford and was the wife of 60 years to the late Max William Andrews.
Eloise was a charter member of Nall memorial Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and going on trips with church groups. She retired from Burlington Industries after 26 years of service. She loved playing cards, reading, shagging and was an avid NASCAR fan. Most Sunday afternoons you could find her watching the race and pulling for her favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Eloise loved to cook, bake sourdough bread and entertain family and friends. She was well known for her ability to decorate for every holiday and any occasion. She also enjoyed shopping and spending time with her grandkids.
Eloise is survived by her son, Mark Andrews (Kim); grandsons (adopted and raised by Max and Eloise at 8 months old), Shawn Andrews (Lauren) and Matthew Andrews (Sara); granddaughters, Holly Andrews and Heather Andrews; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Andrews, Madison Martin, Mackenzie Martin, Alisa Andrews, Jayden Melvin, Camden Williamson, Hayleigh Williamson; two great grandchildren, Lola Lloyd and Gydence Smith and a special friend of over 60 years, Barbara Pryce. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max; an infant son, her son, David Andrews; brother, John L. Stanford and sisters, Eunice Coble and Dorothy Odgers.
The family extends a special thanks to all of her caregivers at Alamance Regional and to the staff at AuthoraCare for their kindness and love shown to Weezy and her family.
A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00pm on Monday, May 8, 2023 at Pine Hill Cemetery by Dr. Wade Cox. The family will receive friends from 1:45-2:45 prior to the service at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at her son, Mark’s home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to AuthoraCare Collective (Hospice) of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
