Alton Sharpe

Alton Ray Sharpe, 72, passed away Friday, November 19th, 2021. He was born January 20, 1949 in Guilford County to Mildred Parks Sharpe and the late Carl Elmore Sharpe. After graduating from Western Alamance High School, Alton served in the Air Force where he was an airplane mechanic and Christian Navigator. Alton owned his own business and retired from Sharpe’s Trucking. He loved his family and adored the children in his life. Alton was like a big teddy bear, lovable and huggable. He loved to work with his hands and could build anything and drive anything.  Alton loved hunting and fishing and spending time with family and friends. He loved to get together and share his love of Blue Grass and Gospel, playing music and fellowshipping. Alton enjoyed meeting and speaking with people, sharing his faith and love of Christ. He was an active member of Central Carolina Community Church, otherwise known as C4. He had a heart of compassion and a strong conviction for helping those in need. Alton reached out and mentored and discipled others, teaching and living the Word of God, providing ongoing love and support. He loved with his whole being.  Alton never met a stranger and touched countless lives. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving include his mother, Mildred Sharpe of Burlington, sister Sherian (Ed) Walker of Elon, sister Paula (Terry) Zachary of Burlington, Step-children Emily (Nate) Taylor and Nick (Melissa) Garner and grandchildren Lacey Taylor and Hannah Garner, nieces Gina (Mike) Bledsole of Whitsett, Carla (John) Waldron of Denver, nephew Taylor Zachary of Raleigh; great nephews Josh (Kimberly) Waldron of Burlington, Blake (Amber) Bledsole of Elon, Luke Waldron of Wilmington, Seth Waldron of Raleigh; great-great nephews Brexton and Boone of Burlington and great-great nieces Ellee and Evelyn “Evie” Bledsole of Elon, and many more loved family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Elmore Sharpe.

The funeral will be conducted 4 p.m. Sunday, November 21, at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Ed Arroyo. The family will receive friends 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. Sunday, November 21, prior to the service at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and at other times at the home of his mother Mildred Sharpe.
