Alura Wheeler

Mrs. Alura Evelie McCune Wheeler, age 87, of Elon, passed away on June 18, 2020, seven days short of her 88th birthday, at Alamance Regional Medical Center, after a year of fighting heart and kidney disease.

Born in Oklahoma City, OK, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lowell McCune and the late Ruby Earl Potts McCune and was married for over 52 years to Bruce Barclay Wheeler, who survives.  Alura was a career homemaker and a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Elon.

Mrs. Wheeler is survived by her husband of the home; two sons, Spencer Brady Wheeler and wife, Lisa, and David Ray Crawford; eleven grandchildren, including special grandchildren, Jessica, Spencer, Dylan and Evan Wheeler; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice “Dolly” Unsell and Alverna Violett.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Raymond Earl Crawford.

The family will be conducting a memorial service at a later date.
