Anna Doggett

Burlington – Anna Essex Doggett, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 22, 2021at her home surrounded by her family.  She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Stanley Earl and Pearl Mae Cranfield Essex. She was married to Ralph H. Doggett, Jr. for 65 years who survives.

Anna was a homemaker and devoted herself to her husband and raising her children. Anna was a charter member of The Baptist Temple and the Auditorium Sunday School Class. She served in the church in many areas of hospitality. Anna was an accomplished seamstress and excellent cook. She even took a class on furniture refinishing and enjoyed restoring various pieces. Anna  delivered Meals on Wheels to Shut-ins for many years and she also helped care for shut-ins. She also located and secured lots for her husband who was a homebuilding contractor. Anna and Ralph traveled all over the country together creating many lasting memories.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph H. Doggett, Jr. of the home; daughter, Anna Rene’ Berrien and husband, John of New Jersey; son, Randy Paul Doggett of Burlington. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Paul Cranfield.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, March 25, 2021 at The Baptist Temple by Dr. Donald R. Carter. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church form 12:45-1:45pm.  Mrs. Doggett will be available for viewing from 1-5PM Wednesday and 8-12Noon on Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will be at the home at other times.
