Beatrice Jenkins

Mrs. Beatrice Clairborne Whitfield Jenkins, age 90, of Burlington, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2019 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late Lester Ezra Whitfield and the late Maggie Mae Long Whitfield and was married for over 56 years to the late Wesley Althea Jenkins who passed in 2004.  She was employed with Westpoint Stevens for over 10 years and was a longtime member of Andrews Memorial Baptist Church.  Beatrice was and loving and caring mother, who cared deeply for all her family and animals.  She was known for always having a smile on her face and her vivrant energy and she especially enjoyed singing and making music.

Mrs. Jenkins is survived by her son, Chadwick Wesley Jenkins and wife, Amy, of Lynchburg, VA; her siblings, Herman Whitfield of Mebane, Linda Allen of Elon, Sadie Roach of Gibsonville, Jean Walker of Roxboro and Herbert Whitfield of Burlington; and her beloved granddogs, “GiGi” and “Bitsy”. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and her siblings, Raymond Whitfield, Melvin Whitfield, Doris Coleman, Frances Barber, Lorraine Matkins, Katie Newton, Mae Lowe and Ethel Whitfield.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Brandon Rouse and Rev. Bobby Fann.  Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday evening at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
