Graham-Carolyn Terrell Councilman, 72, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of 51 years to Steve Douglas Councilman who survives.
Carolyn’s career was devoted to nursing as an LPN at Alamance County Hospital, Randolph County Hospital and later retiring after 40 years from Alamance Regional Medical Center. She was a longtime member of Hopedale Church where she taught Sunday School, served as the youth director and President of the Ladies Fellowship. Carolyn was a member of TOPS NC chapter 109 serving as a co-leader and leader and voted state leader in 2017. She was a member of the Burlington Writers Club where she served as Treasurer, President and Category Manager as well as having many of her poems published in several collections from Eber & Wein publishing. Carolyn was also a volunteer for the American Heart Association. She was devoted to her family and her Lord and blessed others with her many God given talents.
Survivors include husband, Steve D. Councilman of the home; son, Jeffrey Wayne Councilman and wife, Tricia of Burlington; daughter, Tanya Councilman Brooks and husband, Brett of Burlington; grandchildren, Lexie, Lily, Landon and Ladd Councilman, Davis and Abby Brooks; sisters, Evelyn Terrell Parker of Roxboro and Jean Terrell Compton and husband, Randall of Roxboro. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Nicholas and Pauline Evans Terrell and a daughter, Crystal Councilman Williams
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, August 31, 2020 at 2:00pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Dan Cubino and Rev. Bob Cauthren. The burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The body will be available for viewing from 1-5pm on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory. The service will be steamed live on our website.
