Charles W. Mann, 91, of Burlington, NC passed away Monday, July 12, 2021 at Cone Health Alamance Regional Medical Center. Chuck was born on April 26th, 1930 in Wheeling, West Virginia to the late Harold and Amanda Mann. Chuck is survived by his beloved wife, Jean Patterson Mann; sons, Randy Mann and wife Robin, Larry Mann and wife Teresa; grandchildren Jonathan Mann and wife Ruolin, Timothy Mann and wife Laura, Cara Britain and husband Kyle, Christopher Mann and partner Katie, Alex Padron and wife Ziyu, and Scott Padron; great grandchildren, Evelyn and Owen Mann. Also, a host of caring nieces, nephews and good friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lash Mann and Ken Mann and sisters Betty Starkey and Vera Daughtery.
Chuck met Jean on a blind date while she was studying at West Liberty State College. In July of 1954 they married and spent their first year together in West Virginia. Since 1955 Chuck and Jean built their life in Burlington, NC raising two sons whom he loved to teach fishing, golf and wood working. Chuck was a plant manager at Engineered Plastics, Inc. (EPI) until his retirement in 1992, which he enjoyed every day. One could find Chuck on the golf course several times a week often scoring well below his age. He had a remarkable seven hole in-ones; his last one when he was 89. Chuck had a well-stocked wood working shop where he would carefully make beautiful pieces of furniture. What Chuck loved the most was spending time with his family whether that be playing card games, telling funny stories or video chatting with his grandchildren.
Chuck was loved by many, and touched the lives around him with his calm and patient demeanor. He was a father figure to many people and was always there to lend a helping hand or to put a smile on your face by telling a joke. He will be missed by all those that knew and loved him.
