Clyde Long

Clyde Wilburn Long, 78, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021 at the Hospice Home. Clyde was born in Asheville, North Carolina on May 12, 1942 to the late Clyde Stevens and Estelle Kyle Long and was married for over 52 years to Judith McFalls Long who survives.

Clyde retired as a manager from Radio Shake in 1999 but then worked part time at PSI for over 16 years in Knoxville and then at Academy Sports in Burlington, NC.  He was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Knoxville, TN before moving to Whitsett, NC in 2016, where he joined St. Mark’s Church. Clyde was an avid University of Tennessee football fan, and would travel to games often.  He also enjoyed playing golf, but especially loved spending time with his grandson Hudson.

Clyde is survived by his wife; Judy Long, daughter; Anna Ridley and husband Adrian, grandchildren; Hudson, Mackenzie and Alex Ridley, sister; Etta McCall and husband, Kimple, sisters-in-law; Margaret Long, Patricia Taylor and husband Tom and numerous nieces and a nephew.  He was preceded in death by his parents; Clyde and Estelle Long, brother, Mark Long, brothers-in-law; Claude McFalls and Bud McFalls and two nephews.

Clyde was known as a great husband, father and grandfather and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
