BURLINGTON–Doris Odom Bailey, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 3, 2019 at White Oak Manor.  She was born in Greenville, SC on March 29, 1926 to the late Warren Hugh and Martha Forrester Odom and was the wife of the late Dewitt Lawrence Bailey.

Doris was most recently a member of Providence Christian Church but spent many years as a member of Graham Wesleyan Church where she served in the Women’s Missionary Social and on the Board of Directors.  She was also treasurer of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class, Sunday School Teacher and Communion Steward.  During her lifetime, Doris was passionate about gardening, crafts and reading.  She was an advocate and supporter of her family and prayed for them daily.

She leaves behind her daughter, Jean Robor (Thomas); stepchildren, Brenda Felter (Fred), Bill Bailey (Robin) and Jerry Bailey (Elaine); sister, Martha Moss; grandchildren, Ray McGowan (Claudia), Bailey Moore (Brandon), Rebecca Rice (Chris), Tiffany Robor (Benjamin Townsend), Marietta Robor, Kathy Freeman (Glenn), Cindy Barnes (Ben), Fred Felter (Courtney), Geoffrey Bailey, Melissa Bailey, Liz Davis (Tyler), Ariel Bailey and Caleb Bailey; 18 great grandchildren and much loved nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; siblings, Belle Marlow, Mae Idol, Mary Ford, Hugh Odom and Alfred Odom; stepdaughter, Jelene Blanchard and grandson Keith Woody.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Darryl Peebles with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 prior to the service.

A special thank you to the nurses and staff of Springview Assisted Living and White Oak Manor as well as the Meals on Wheels Volunteers and Ella Holt Circle.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alamance County Meals on Wheels, 411 West 5th St, Suite A, Burlington, NC 27215 or to Providence Christian Church, 819 N Main St, Graham, NC 27253.
