Burlington - Edna Griffin Loyd, 77, passed away August 27, 2019 after battling both dementia and cancer.  Born August 6, 1942, Edna grew up in Fayetteville, NC where she met the love of her life, Donald, who she married at the age of 16.  Their marriage lasted 42 years until Donald passed in 2002.

Edna enjoyed flower gardening, thrift store shopping and worshiping the Lord.  She loved to eat at Wendy’s and going to the beauty shop every Friday to socialize.  She found the most joy in her grandchildren, Zachary Allen Phipps, Stanton Alexander Wiggins (Callie), and Kendall Elizabeth Wiggins.  She was predeceased by an infant grandson, Andrew Gray Phipps.

Edna is survived by her daughters, Tina Loyd Wiggins and son-in-law Rick of Gibsonville, Teri Loyd Phipps and fiancé Wade Young of Huntsville, Alabama, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Bonnie Thompson and the entire staff at Homeplace as well as the staff of Hospice who cared for Edna. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, September 7th at 11 o’clock in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be available to visit after the service. A private burial will follow.
