Eileen Rice

Eileen Mildred Weeks Rice, 94, was called into the presence of her Lord and Savior early Sunday morning January 9, 2022 at Twin Lakes Community, Burlington, NC.

Eileen was born October 7, 1927 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Walter Evans and Edith “Dee Dee” Mae Kirby Weeks and was married for 66 years to the late William Kelley Rice, Jr.

Eileen graduated from Western High School in Baltimore where she was the captain of the girl’s ice hockey team.  She graduated from Western Maryland College with a degree in Home Economics and was employed by Baltimore Gas & Electric as the lead demonstrator for television cooking programs.  Her culinary career included time with McCormick in their test kitchens.  Her love of cooking was evident throughout her life and was enjoyed by all her family and friends.

Her passion and ministry for reaching women with the life changing truth of Jesus Christ was evidenced in her work with Stonecroft Ministries.  She was a national speaker for many years and had deep friendships in the organization. She was an active member of Valley Presbyterian Church in Lutherville, Md.  After moving to North Carolina in 2011, she and Kelley attended Apple’s Chapel Christian Church. She enjoyed water skiing, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and china painting.

Eileen “Little Mother” is survived by her two daughters:  Janice R. Myers and husband, Allen of McLeansville, NC and Peggy R. Posey and her late husband, Roger of Mt. Airy, Md.; “Memo” dearly loved and was loved by her four grandchildren. She encouraged and faithfully prayed for them her entire life.  She also had seven great grandchildren in whom she found great joy:  Daniel Myers (Heather) – Ryland, Hannah and Colton; Emily Alford (Tim) – Ethan and Ellie; Whitney Ward (Bo) – Millie and Cooper; and Spencer Posey.  She truly loved spending time with her entire family and was quite competitive at any games with a twinkle in her eye.

A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date.
