Elizabeth "Lib" Cates

Burlington – Elizabeth “Lib” Poe Cates, 88, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her family.  A native of Alamance County she was the daughter of the late Frank Taylor and Maggie Madden Poe.

Lib spent many years working in the textile mills but after retirement loved to spend her time on the dance floor as well as with her family and her beloved animals.

She is survived by her sons, Floyd Garner, Jr. (Kay), Harold Garner (Bobbie), Vernon Garner and Billy Ray Garner (Penny); daughters Frances Auman and Bonnie Wise; 12 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren and numerous brothers and sisters.  She is preceded in death by her parents; former husband, Floyd Edmond Garner; daughter Nancy Poe and step mother; Etrola Poe.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 on Tuesday March 5, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory by Pastor Dave Winstead.  The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 prior to the service.
