Harvey "Ed" Owen

Harvey “Ed” Edward Owen, 89, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2020 at the Hospice Home surrounded by his loving wife by his side.  He was born on August 30, 1930 in Bisco County, NC to the late Lacey Banks Owen and Susie Harvell Owen and was the husband to Patricia “Jane” Finch Owen of 59 years who survives.

Ed was a retired commercial truck driver who logged more than 2 million miles in his career.  After retirement he drove a tour bus, one could say that Ed never got tired of traveling.  He also never met a stranger, he enjoyed telling jokes, loved fishing and particularly his annually fishing trips with his brothers and nephews.  He was a member of Bible Baptist Church and was a veteran of the US Navy.

Survivors other than his wife, Jane include his daughters, Terri Smith, Millie King and her husband, Todd; granddaughters, Nicole King and Natalie K. Forster; brothers, Bruce Wayne Owen and wife Debbie, Charles Carroll Owen and wife Bonnie; many nieces and nephews.  Ed was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, William David Smith, Jr.; brothers, L.B., Harold, Alvin and Doyle Owen; and a sister, Nancy Jacobs.

The family will be at the residence.  Ed’s family will be having private services.

Due to the evolving Covid-19 virus situation, for the concerns of family and friends we are not conducting public services or visitations at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
