Burlington: Mr. Jerry Thompson Dunn passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, October 19, 2021.

A native of Alamance County, Jerry was born in Mebane on March 11, 1933 to Rudy Tate Dunn and Caroline Smith Dunn.  He was the youngest of 7 siblings and has been preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters and 2 brothers.

Jerry was a graduate of Mebane High School and earned a degree from Appalachian State University while on scholarship as a member of the football team.  Jerry’s favorite past time was officiating high school football.  He spent over 25 years as a member of the Mid-state Football Officials Association.

Jerry also served 4 years in the United States Navy and retired after 27 years of service as a claims adjuster from Nationwide Insurance.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara; two sons, Kyle and Kirk; two daughters-in-law, Melissa and Selena; as well as three granddaughters, Danielle, Chloe and Carolyne.

A celebration of life service will be officiated on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Alamance Lutheran Church by Pastor Ron Philabaum with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Authoracare Hospice of Alamance County,914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215 or Alamance Lutheran Church, 4008 South NC Hwy 62, Alamance, NC 27201.
