Lindon Hooper, Sr.

Mr. Lindon Ray Hooper, Sr., age 73, of Elon, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Union, SC to the late Charles Lindon Hooper and the late Jean Thorson Hooper and was married for over 55 years to Mrs. Joan Hill Hooper, who survives.  Lindon was a dedicated employee for over 45 years with Glen Raven Mills and at the time of his retirement he was the longest running employee at the Finishing Plant.  He was of the Christian faith and was a member of Carolina Christian Church.  He was an avid fisherman and loved watching his beloved Minnesota Vikings play football.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Mr. Hooper is survived by his wife of the home; two sons, Ray Hooper, Jr. of Elon and Chuck Hooper and wife, Lynette, of Burlington; a daughter, Amy Hardy and husband, Ron, of Burlington; six grandchildren, Samantha (Brian) Flinchum, Alex Hardy, Preston Hardy, Stephanie (Chris) James, Trystan (Kirstie) Hooper and PFC Amory (Jordan) Watson; three great grandchildren, Kane and Ava Flinchum and Kaustyn Hooper; two sisters, Suzanne Walker and Bonnie Deppert, both of Gibsonville; and a host of nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his baby sister, Carol Hathaway; and his special in-laws, Alvis and Beatrice Hill.

The service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Carolina Christian Church by Rev. Mark Mitchell.  Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice, especially to Beverly and Toni for the excellent care they provided for Lindon.
