Raymond "Ray" Montgomery, Jr.

Raymond “Ray” Montgomery, Jr., 61, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, February 20, 2021.  God welcomed him with open arms.

Ray was born March 20, 1959 in Guilford County to the late Raymond Montgomery, Sr. and Jean Cox Montgomery who survives.  He was a devoted servant to his Lord and a faithful example of God’s love.

Ray had such a gentle and kind spirit.  He was a loyal husband of 25 years to Michele and a loving father to his children, Ray III and Chloe.  He found such great joy in spending time with his family and he will be greatly missed more than any words can express.  He was a solid source of strength and encouragement to his family and friends.

Ray was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Marines and a true patriot.  He was employed as a Technical Support Professional and worked for IBM for 27 years.  He was also a sports fan who enjoyed his Duke basketball and Washington football.  Ray was a man of faith and an active member of the Whitehall Evangelical Methodist Church and served as Board Chair on their Board of Stewards.

Ray is survived by his wife, Michele Thompson Montgomery; his son, Ray Montgomery III and his daughter, Chloe Montgomery; his mother, Jean Montgomery and his sister, Cyndee Eskridge and her husband, Harry.  His In-Laws, Reverend Dr Harold and Jean Thompson and his brother-in-law, Michael Thompson; and many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by his father-in-law the Reverend Dr Harold Thompson.  The Committal Service will follow at Alamance Memorial Park with military honors.  The public viewing will be from 3pm to 5pm Friday and Saturday from 8am to 1:45pm prior to the service.

Memorials may be made in his honor to his beloved church, Whitehall Evangelical Methodist Church, 3335 Wesleyan Road, Randleman, NC 27317.
