Sherman Carl Smith

Graham- Sherman Carl Smith, 69, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Moses Cone Hospital surrounded by his family. A native of Harrison County, West Virginia he was the son of the late William Harold and Jean Tacy Smith and was the husband of Pamela Smith for 50 years.

Carl graduated from Roosevelt Wilson High School in 1970 then went on to obtain his Associates degree in business.  He retired from Martin Marietta, Inc. as Lead Pitman in 2017.  Carl was an avid hunter and fisherman and was also a very skilled woodworker and photographer.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Pamela Smith and fur baby, Sophie; sons, Bo Smith and wife, Michelle, Billy Smith and wife, Melissa; grandchildren, Katlin Youker and husband Gavin, Emma Smith, Kaleah Young and Kamrin Worley; siblings, William Smith, Jr. and wife, Barbara, Bobby Smith and wife, Liz, David Smith, and Donna Pittillo and husband Chris.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Murphy and husband Joe.

A memorial service celebrating Carl’s life will be held at a later date.
